Week 5
PBL and Webquest are great teaching methods that are based on task-based methodology. Task based teaching is very effective since it integrated the accuracy components (grammer, vocabulary, spelling, pronunciation) and the fluency componenets (reading, writing, speaking & listening). The accuracy componenents serve as means to an end, which is the fluency componenents.
I learned about the free sites that allow teachers to create webquests. It's great since I can integrate multi-sesory teaching with my students. Having youtubes link in webquest can enhance motivation and language learning in my context

Ahmad,
PBL is a great extension of TBLT or TBI. At one of the two places where I work, we do use TBI in our classes, yet I think its proper execution can be exponentially maximized by the use of PBL. This way, having in mind the TOEFL and TOEIC tests as role models of integrated skills, your students and ours over here in Costa Rica can become better learners, can't they??
In regards to free sites that allow us teachers to create our own WebQuests, please take a look at http://www.teach-nology.com/web_tools/web_quest/ that I am sure will also help you and your colleague design their PBL assignments.
Nice reflection of yours, Ahmad!

Dear Ahmad,
In my country WebQuests are a new method for language teaching. Like you I was pleased with the free sites offering the convenience of creating our own Webquests. It is a suitable way of integrating different language skills, why not all of them. As Jonathan mentions this will help the students to become better learners.
Best wishes to you and Jonathan,
Zlatka
